Magnalight.com Announces Addition of Pedestal Mounted Metal Halide Hazardous Area Light

Larson Electronics' Magnalight.com announced today the addition of a portable hazardous area pedestal light equipped with a 400 watt metal halide lamp. Designed for portability and safe operation in Class 1 Division 2 hazardous locations, the EPL-PM-1X400MH-100 is also approved for wet locations and produces enough light to illuminate 25,000 square feet of workspace. A compact design with 100 feet of cord, pedestal base with built in carry handle, and a single high output metal halide lamp, offers operators in hazardous locations the power of metal halide illumination and the convenience of portability.

The Hazardous Area Light on Pedestal Stand provides operators in hazardous locations with a portable Class 1 Division 2 source of illumination that doesn't compromise on power. This rugged hazardous location light produces 36,000 lumens of high quality light through the inclusion of a 400 watt metal halide lamp and is capable of illuminating 25,000 square feet of workspace. The metal halide lamp used with this unit is designed for Class 1 Division 2 locations and has a weatherproof housing constructed of cast aluminum and a heat and impact-resistant tempered flat glass door that is hinged to allow easy access for re-lamping. The ballast is contained within the lamp housing and allows operation with voltages of 120 to 277VAC for versatile power source options. Magnalight.com also offers optional 480V and 220V versions so operators can apply these units in almost any workspace utilizing these voltages as well. The pedestal base on this portable work light is solid metal and includes an integral carrying handle which provides operators with the ability to simply carry, place, and plug in this unit wherever it is needed. The flat pedestal base provides a very stable platform and an adjustable trunnion bracket allows users to adjust the metal halide lamp vertically as needed to illuminate the desired areas more effectively. An included 100 feet of SOOW abrasive/oil resistant cord and ECP 1523 5-15P Class 1 Division 1 explosion proof straight blade plug provides plenty of length for deployment and a safe and secure connection to power sources. Ratings and approvals for this portable hazardous location light include Class 1 Division 2, groups C and D approval, a UL rating for wet areas, and a UL approval for marine environments. This portable metal halide light and pedestal mount package is an ideal lighting solution for those who must enter and operate in Class 1 Div 1 locations where native lighting is non-existent or insufficient. Some typical applications ideal for applying this unit include; loading areas, turnarounds, storage areas, utility plants, and power generation plants. These units are not approved for confined spaces, but provide high quality lighting protection in the event of unusual or abnormal hazardous conditions in otherwise safe locations.

"This is one of our most useful form factors for hazardous location lighting," said Rob Bresnahan with Larson Electronics' Magnalight.com. "With 800 watts of metal halide light output in a portable pedestal mount light, operators can use this as a floor model or carry it up on to scaffolding. "
