Harmonic Filters reduce THiD to less than 5%.

Press Release Summary:

Series AHF 005 offers harmonic reduction despite background disturbances, such as phase unbalance and voltage distortion. Compact housing can be integrated into existing panel space, making them suited for retrofit applications. Filters feature cable-in/cable-out installation and require no balancing or routine maintenance. One filter module can be used with several variable frequency drives.

Original Press Release:

Reduce Harmonic Distortion with a New Advanced Harmonic Filter from Danfoss

LOVES PARK, IL -- Danfoss North America Motion Controls (NAMC) introduces the Advanced Harmonic Filter (AHF). These filters offer cost-effective harmonic reduction despite ever-present
background disturbances, such as phase unbalance and background voltage distortion, to provide optimized drive performance.

The AHF Series 005 reduces total harmonic current distortion (THiD) to less than 5%, thus providing performance similar to that of an 18-pulse drive. These highly efficient filters suppress THvD to lower levels than is otherwise achievable with 18-pulse drives, which simply transfer the harmonics to a
higher frequency. The AHF Series 010 provides superior performance when compared with a 12-pulse drive, while reducing THiD to less than 10%.

Advanced Harmonic Filters feature a compact housing that is easily integrated into existing panel space, making them well suited for retrofit applications. They are designed for simple setup with "cable-in/cable-out" installation, and require no balancing, routine maintenance, or specialized start-up. One filter module can be used in conjunction with several variable frequency drives.

Danfoss is a leading manufacturer of precision mechanical and electrical components, with locations in more than 120 countries. Danfoss created the VLT name when they introduced the world's first mass-produced AFD in 1968, and the name has set the standard for high performance quality variable frequency drives ever since.
