Harmonic Filter Packages address IEEE 519-1992 guidelines.

Press Release Summary:

Advanced Harmonic Solutions packages combine VLT® Series variable frequency drives with AHF Series filters. To reduce total harmonic current distortion (THiD) to less than 5%, AHS 005 package matches VLT Series drive with AHF 005 unit. Filters also suppress total harmonic voltage distortion. Also available, AHS 010 package reduces THiD to less than 10%. AHF Series housings integrate into existing panel space and require no balancing or routine maintenance.

Reduce Harmonic Distortion with a New Advanced Harmonic Filter From Danfoss

MILWAUKEE, WI -- Danfoss Water & Wastewater now offers a compact, economical and completely integrated system solution for the growing number of applications in which IEEE 519-1992 guidelines need to be addressed. As a cost-effective total solution, Danfoss Advanced Harmonic Solutions packages combine the reliability and performance of Danfoss VLT® Series variable frequency drives with the new and innovative technology of AHF Series filters. The result is a complete solution that has been perfectly matched for optimal performance.

The AHS 005 package matches a VLT Series drive with an AHF 005 unit, which reduces total harmonic current distortion (THiD) to less than 5%, thus providing performance similar to that of an 18-pulse drive under ideal conditions. These highly efficient filters suppress total harmonic voltage distortion (ThvD) to lower levels than is otherwise achievable with 18-pulse drives, especially in water and wastewater applications where background voltage distortion and phase imbalance are common. The AHS 010 package provides superior performance when compared with a 12-pulse drive, reducing THiD to less than 10%.

AHF Series Advanced Harmonic Filters feature a compact housing that is easily integrated into existing panel space, making them well suited for retrofit applications on existing 6-pulse VFDs. They are designed for simple setup with "cable-in/cable-out" installation, and require no balancing, routine maintenance, or specialized start-up. One filter module can be used in conjunction with several variable frequency drives.

Danfoss is a leading manufacturer of precision mechanical and electrical components, with locations in more than 120 countries. Danfoss created the VLT name when they introduced the world's first mass-produced VFD in 1968, and the name has set the standard for high performance quality variable frequency drives ever since.
