TREK, INC. to Introduce Field Meter at SEMICON® West

Model 511 Offers Economical and Reliable Solution for Monitoring Electrostatic Fields in Semiconductor, Photovoltaic/Solar and Electronics Manufacturing and for Materials R&D

MEDINA, N.Y. -- TREK, INC., a designer and manufacturer of high-voltage amplifiers and electrostatic voltmeters will introduce a new Field Meter (Model 511) during SEMICON® West, an annual event for the global microelectronics industry, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco July 10 - 12, 2012. Trek's Model 511 Hand-Held Field Meter offers an economical and reliable solution for monitoring electrostatic fields which if left unchecked could cause damage to products or manufacturing facilities especially in the semiconductor, photovoltaic/solar and electronics industries. The field meter will be on display at Trek's Booth #1123.

Model 511 is a portable, chopper-stabilized, non-contacting electrostatic field meter designed for testing and auditing of electrostatic fields in applications where electrostatic discharge (ESD), and the damage it can cause, is a concern.

The primary application for Trek's field meter is for charge monitoring in semiconductor (chip), photovoltaic/solar and electronics manufacturing. Additional applications in these and other charge-sensitive manufacturing or materials research environments include electrostatic field monitoring for the purpose of ESD auditing, or for assessing voltage generation of materials, equipment and personnel. An optional charge plate accessory enables Model 511 to be used for the balancing and testing of ionization blowers and devices. The unit can also be used for surface voltage measurements of photo-conductors or dielectric surfaces and for measurement of electrostatic potentials on film, polymers, and paper.

The versatile unit has a switch-selectable measurement range of either +/- 2 kV per inch or +/- 20 kV per inch. Measurement accuracy is better than 5% of reading. The design of Model 511 assures reliable measurements in ionized or non-ionized environments.

Additional features include an easy-to-read LED display, a hold-switch which preserves a reading on the display until released, and a push-button 'auto-zero' feature which removes any offset voltage.
