Surveyor Plus Refractive Index and Surveyor Plus Fluorescence detectors integrate with Finnigan(TM) Surveyor(TM) Plus HPLC system. Refractive Index Detector is suited for detecting compounds lacking chromaphores such as alcohols, fatty acids, and esters. Fluorescence Detector monitors emissions of fluorescence, phosphorescence, and chemiluminescence, and also analyzes PAHs, derivatized amino acids, carbamates, and glyphosates.

Thermo Introduces Two New HPLC Detectors for Extended Application Capabilities
SAN JOSE, California (March 20, 2006) - Thermo Electron Corporation, world leader in analytical instruments, offers its new Surveyor Plus Refractive Index and Surveyor Plus Fluorescence detectors designed to enhance chromatographers' analytical capabilities when integrated with the Finnigan(TM) Surveyor(TM) Plus HPLC product line. As a result, both of these highly sensitive, low maintenance detectors enable chromatographers to run a greater variety of applications with one complete system. Thermo showcased these novel solutions at PITTCON® 2006, Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida, March 13-17.
The Surveyor Plus Refractive Index Detector is ideal for detecting compounds lacking chromaphores such as alcohols, fatty acids and esters. The Surveyor Plus Fluorescence Detector monitors the emissions of fluorescence, phosphorescence and chemiluminescence, and also analyzes polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), derivatized amino acids, carbamates and glyphosates.
"The ability to analyze PAHs is an extremely important environmental application because they are classified as carcinogens," explains Diab Elmashni, Thermo's global product manager of HPLC. "Fluorescence detection is critical for this application because it is used to monitor trace levels of PAHs in drinking and waste water, furnace emissions, soil and hazardous waste," adds Elmashni.
The Surveyor Plus Refractive Index and Surveyor Plus Fluorescence detector integrate seamlessly with Thermo's high through-put Finnigan Surveyor Plus HPLC system, allowing users to achieve accurate and reliable chromatographic analysis.
