Rugged QTERM HMIs now ABS Classified for Marine Applications

Beijer Electronics, a designer and manufacturer of powerful human machine interface (HMI) products, is pleased to announce the rugged 7" QTERM-A7 and 12" QTERM-A12 human machine interface terminals are now classified by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) for marine applications. ABS is a leading marine and offshore classification society that promotes safety standards for the design, construction and operational maintenance of marine equipment.

Known for being built for demanding environments, the QTERM-A7 and QTERM-A12 are also Class I Div 2 certified for hazardous conditions.  With the recent ABS classification, the QTERM terminals now meet requirements needed in the marine industry.

Features include a widescreen 7" or large 12" TFT-LCD display, resistive touch screen, Ethernet 10/100Base-T interface with two USB 2.0 full-speed host ports and two serial ports to connect to nearly any device. Both the QTERM-A7 and QTERM-A12 are UL 508 certified and can operate in temperatures ranging from -30 to 70 °C (-22 to 158 °F).

The QTERM-A7 and QTERM-A12 offer a choice of either Windows® Embedded CE 6.0 or iX software. iX includes multiple drivers to communicate with automation equipment, scalable vector-based graphics, open architecture and a variety of HMI functions (i.e., alarms, trends, recipes).

“With the recent classification from ABS, our QTERM-A7 and QTERM-A12 terminals can now be used in many challenging marine applications including ballast water treatment and propulsion,” said Bob Mullins, Industrial Product Manager at Beijer Electronics. “We are very excited to add ABS as an additional certification to our rugged HMIs.”
