Announcing the New Simrad Advanced HD Radar Family

Electronics Leader Releases Powerful New Open Array Radar Systems

Merrimack, NH – Simrad Yachting, a leader in the design and manufacture of world-class marine navigation, autopilot, radar, communications and fishfinding systems, announced today the Simrad Advanced HD Digital Radar Family. Combining high-performance open array scanners with a proven history of oceangoing reliability and the latest in digital signal processing, the new Simrad radars offers unparalleled situational awareness with exceptional detection of small or distant targets and minimized screen-clutter. The new line up includes 6-foot 10kW (TXL-10S-6) and 7-foot 25kW (TXL-25S-7) open array systems, as well as a 4-foot 10kW (TXL-10S-4) array – a great bird finder and all-around performance radar that is perfect for smaller center consoles.

Designed with long-life magnetrons and brushless motors, the new Simrad Advanced HD Digital Radars feature automatic Tune, Gain and Sea Clutter adjustments, automatic Harbor and Offshore modes and dual EBL/VRM. Units support both true and relative motion to distinguish moving targets from land masses, have dual guard zones with alarm triggering and sensitivity adjustments for targets both entering/exiting to optimize safety, and allow for tracking 10 user-selected MARPA targets. A high-speed heading sensor can be added to enable chart overlay on compatible Simrad NS Series multi-function displays and a choice of color palettes ensures improved target distinction based on viewing conditions.

Designed to meet all current and future clean spectrum requirements, the new Simrad Radar family boasts an improvement over that which will be required by the International Telecommunication Union’s low emission standard – scheduled to become mandatory in some countries by August 2015. Through the implementation of the latest magnetron and RF design technology, safe radiation levels remain within the swing of the circle of the antenna.
