New Raymarine HD Digital Radomes Offer Superior Digital Signal Processing and Small Target Tracking

Latest Evolution in High Definition Digital Radar Now Available in Compact Models

MERRIMACK, N.H. and FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 29 /-- Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show -- Raymarine, Inc., a world leader in marine electronics, today introduced its new HD Digital Radome radar scanners, the RD418HD and RD424HD, which represent a major leap forward in compact radar antenna performance. These highly advanced radomes are engineered with the same exclusive HD Digital signal processing technology found on Raymarine's larger open array radar systems.

The 18" RD418HD and 24" RD424HD feature a powerful 4kW transmitter and a SeaTalkhs network port, enabling simple integration with Raymarine E-Series Classic, C-Series Widescreen, E-Series Widescreen and G-Series navigation systems. Once networked with a Raymarine multifunction display, users can quickly become familiar with the radar presentation without the need for complex tuning and adjustments. Thanks to a digital processor 25 times more powerful than previous generation radars, boaters will immediately take notice of the superior short and long range target detection, lifelike radar detail and the full 256 color target presentation.

"Our new line of HD Digital radomes provides boaters with unprecedented compact radar performance and ease of use," said Dave Bimschleger, President of Raymarine, Inc. "With our exclusive digital radar signal processing we have now made it possible for owners of smaller power and sail boats to enjoy the superior target detection and clarity that only Raymarine HD Digital technology can deliver."

Key features offered with the new HD Digital radomes include:

-- Experienced anglers often utilize radar to locate birds above schools of fish, and Raymarine HD Digital radars now help in the search for sea birds and fish. The radomes are equipped with a new Bird Mode feature that automatically optimizes the radar tuning parameter for targeting flocks of birds.

-- 48RPM antenna rotation speed for tracking high speed radar targets.

-- Dual Range capability, giving boaters a view of both short and long range radar images simultaneously.

-- HD Digital signal processing for unprecedented radome performance.

-- Improved digital receiver signal to noise ratio enables enhanced small target detection, especially in sea and rain clutter.

-- 256 color target display, which aids in determining the target strength, size and composition. Multicolor radar also helps in seeing hard radar targets masked by rain squalls or other inclement weather.
