August 28, 2006 - Incorporating HDPE body and weir plates, Grease Interceptor removes grease from kitchen waste streams before they enter sanitary sewer lines. Watertight sanitary joints are achieved through bell-and-spigot couplers that prevent waste infiltration. With operating pH range of 1.5-14, interceptor is unaffected by strong acids and alkalis. Lightweight, gravity-flow unit is available in capacities of 750, 1,000, and 1,500 gal, and has 8 in. inlet and outlet tees.

Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. Provides a Long-term Solution for Grease Removal

Hilliard, Ohio - July 23, 2006: As the Environmental Protection Agency increases its water requirements for businesses; products that are effective and affordable in solving these problems are needed. The old, small, high-maintenance concrete grease traps that are very common in multiple industries are now ineffective because they do not perform the necessary separation of grease from the waste system. ADS introduces a more durable and economic alternative to previous products with their high density polyethylene Grease Interceptor.

The ADS Grease Interceptor is a superior product in its market. While concrete and metal both can have limited life-spans and corrosion resistance, ADS' Grease Interceptor will perform over time. Matt Backiewicz, National Growth Chain Manager, stated, "We have met with many food chains and municipalities and they expressed a need for a better long-term solution". By incorporating a high density polyethylene body and weir plates, the product efficiently removes incoming grease from kitchen waste streams before entering sanitary sewer lines without affecting the structure itself.

The ADS HDPE Grease Interceptor provides many benefits. It has a high resistance to corrosion from food waste and is unaffected by strong acids and alkalis with an operating pH range of 1.5 to 14. The Grease Interceptor is lightweight, easy to handle, and quick to install with minimum heavy equipment. Watertight sanitary joints are achieved through bell-and-spigot couplers and prevent waste from infiltrating water tables.

The gravity-flow units are available in three standard capacities, 750, 1000 and 1500 gallons, and have 8" standard inlet and outlet tees. A vertical weir plate divides the unit into two chambers, and contains an 8" orifice which allows lower level water to flow to the outlet. Oils and greases remain on the surface, where they are removed easily by suction hoses through 30" diameter access risers.

The Grease Interceptor is constructed to meet the design and dimension requirements found in Appendix H of the Uniform Plumbing Code, and to AASHTO standards. The product is H-20 load rated when installed in accordance to ADS installation details, and will accept most discharges associated with commercial food preparation.
