Goniometer fits in hard-to-reach places.

Press Release Summary:

Measuring 60 x 85 mm and weighing 400 g, Portable Model PGX measures wetting and absorption on any size surface. User places instrument on top of specimen, presses button, and instrument captures sequence of images to describe liquid/substrate interaction. Results are presented as static contact angle or dynamic wetting and liquid penetration as function of time. Calibration in static mode is done using virtual standard supplied.

PGX Goniometer

This compact instrument measures wetting and absorption as a function of time on any size of surface such as a table top, the roof or the bumper of a car, a glass bottle, a metal can and many more applications.

Using an upgrade of the PG-3 software PGX operates with all the same features as the PG-3 and more. There is no need for cutting specimens so testing is done immediately. Place the instrument on top of your specimen, press a button and the instrument captures a sequence of images to describe the liquid/substrate interaction. Results are presented as static contact angle or dynamic wetting and liquid penetration as a function of time. Thanks to its extremely compact design, comparable in size to a modern day glossmeter, this measuring head is very portable and can be used in many 'hard to reach' places.

UNIQUE FEATURES
o Assured calibration in the static mode is quick, simple and accurate using the virtual standard supplied.
o Automatic droplet application A press on the 'PUMP' button will pump out a droplet of the requested size and then apply it on the specimen surface in 'static mode' (slowly downwards) or 'dynamic mode' (dropped from a short defined distance). The pumping and drop application (static/dynamic) is indicated by a LED while the process is in progress.
o PGX optic geometry The PG-3 droplet is viewed against an "illuminated wall" and the image is not severely affected by the specimen surface. In the PGX, the droplet is viewed against an "illuminated floor" and the light intensity is affected by the reflectance of the specimen surface, which might have a major impact on the camera image. For certain specimens the interactive Threshold function (implemented in PG program version 1.6) might not be enough to compensate for the differences that may occur. This is why the new PGX has an adjustment to control the illumination level.

o X-tremely small foot print of 60x85 mm
o X-ceptional integration, weight 400 grams
o X-tremely easy to use with built-in camera
o X-act calibration routine
o X-amines surface/liquid properties
o X-cellent automatic performance
