Gear Grinder changes over quickly.

Press Release Summary:

RZ 400 precision gear grinding machine's main column, that carries grinding spindle and slide, rotates 90° for wheel change and another 90° to perform wheel dressing operation. Gear profile modifications can be made with few keystrokes, without need for diamond discs. It has gearless planetary drives, acoustic sensing for alignment of dressing diamonds, and low noise shifting that produces random surface structure on teeth.

New Hard Gear Finishing Technology on Display at IMTS

Reishauer will exhibit the new RZ 400 Precision Gear Grinding Machine at IMTS 2002, Booth #B-7033. The RZ 400 incorporates innovative new technology including gearless planetary drives, acoustic sensing for alignment of dressing diamonds and LNS low noise shifting, a feature that produces a random surface structure on the teeth to prevent excitation, all of which are recently patented features.

The machine working area was designed to facilitate fast changeovers. Convenient location for the set up of the dressing unit, ergonomic ease of wheel change and almost unlimited restriction of the gear location on the shaft or arbor allows the RZ 400 to provide maximum machine uptime. The main column that carries the grinding spindle and slide rotates 90° to facilitate wheel change and another 90° to perform the wheel dressing operation.

LNS (low noise shifting), one of the new features of the RZ 400 directs the movement of the wheel and work piece during grinding to produce a random surface texture in the micro-range, which prevents discrete excitations of the ground gear when running with its mate. The purpose of LNS is to reduce low speed gear noise.

Gear profile modifications can now be easily realized (with a few keystrokes) without the need for special diamond discs with the "Line Dressing" feature of the RZ 400. Using the machine axis, the wheel is moved in such a manner during the dressing cycle to produce root, flank and tip modifications that will be imparted to the gear when grinding.

Because of the stationary work spindle, Reishauer now offers as a standard option with the RZ 400, a flexible automatic loader that is available in 3, 5 and 7 meter versions to suit the amount of unattended time the customer desires.
