Ikanos Debuts VDSL2 Residential Gateway Reference Platform for Triple Play Applications

FREMONT, Calif., Sept. 21 / -- Ikanos Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:IKAN), a leading developer and provider of Fiber Fast(TM) broadband solutions, today introduced a fully integrated VDSL2 residential gateway reference platform for universal customer premises equipment (CPE) to support triple play applications. The platform -- which is interoperable with ADSL2+, ADSL2, ADSL and VDSL1 -- is designed to deliver the flexibility that carriers need to serve a variety of consumers, from those wanting high-value triple play services to those needing only broadband Internet access.

The VDSL2 residential gateway reference platform merges the power of Ikanos' Fusiv(R) processor with its Fx(TM)100100S-5 chipset into a single solution that delivers industry-leading 100 Mbps symmetrical throughput. The platform is capable of supporting a number of applications, including VDSL2, ADSL2+, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Wireless Local Area Networking (WLAN), Ethernet switching, data routing, NAT and firewall. By combining so much functionality into a single platform, Ikanos is providing equipment makers with a cost-effective way to quickly roll out new products that serve a wider range of customers.
