June 6, 2002 - Model 2286 is constructed of lightweight Pyrolite® with heavy duty wedge gate design and non-rising stem. Inlets and discharges are available in threaded 3, 3 1/2, 4, 4 1/2, and 5 in. or 4 and 5 in. storz. Design provides minimal friction loss (less than 1 psi at 1500 gpm), and meets NFPA slow close requirements. Model 2286 is suitable for use on hydrants, pumpers, and aerial applications.

Akron® introduces its new style 2286 gate valve. This new valve is constructed of lightweight Pyrolite® (9 1/2lbs) with a heavy-duty wedge gate design, a non-rising stem and a handwheel for easier operation at standard pressures. The handwheel can also be utilized as a carrying handle for easier transport of the valve. The 2286 is ideal for use on hydrants, pumpers & aerial applications to name a few.
