Gasketing Material cures in place.

Press Release Summary:

Non-toxic, polyether-foam, gasketing material is formulated for automotive interior and exterior Buzz, Squeak & Rattle (BSR) applications. Isosyanate-free, 2-component, black, rubber foam adheres to hard-coated acrylic polycarbonate, and resists heat up to 120°C. Near frictionless cured bead surface allows mating parts to be slid into place with minimum adjustment force. Material cures in 10 min with exposure to 100°C temperatures.

Original Press Release:

Economical Polyether Foam Cured-In-Place Gasketing Material For Interior And Exterior Buzz, Squeak & Rattle (BSR)

Rocky Hill, Conn. -March 21, 2002... Loctite Corporation has introduced an innovative new polyether foam cured-in-place gasketing material formulated for cost effective automotive interior and exterior Buzz, Squeak & Rattle (BSR) applications. More economical than pressure sensitive foam tapes and silicone cured-in-place gaskets, this polyether material is robust and easy to process, and eliminates the need for mechanical mixing
equipment.

Adhering easily to a wide variety of substrates, this unique foam gasket will cure at room temperature, with accelerated cure upon exposure to heat. A resilient, two-component black rubber foam, this cured in place gasketing material is very soft (< shore OO 50), offers excellent adhesion to hard coated acrylic
polycarbonate, and is resistant to heat up to 120°C. The cured bead's surface exhibits a lubricious, near frictionless property, which allows mating parts to be slid easily into place with minimum adjustment force. The material cures in just 10 minutes exposure to 100°C temperatures. During cure, parts can be in any position without the material slumping or migrating. The material is non-toxic and contains no isosyanates.

Originally developed for automotive exterior pillar applications to prevent BSR, vibration and wind noise, this polyether foam is also ideal for any interior BSR prevention applications and for gap filling requirements. This new material replaces custom die cut pressure sensitive adhesive backed foam tapes that can be highly labor intensive, as well as high performance cured-in-place silicone gasketing materials that may be over engineered for interior and exterior BSR applications.
