MSA Introduces the Ultima® XIR Gas Monitor
Infrared technology for combustible gas detection
MSA Instrument Division announces the release of the Ultima XIR Gas Monitor, a microprocessor-based, infrared point gas detector for continuous monitoring of combustible gases and vapors. Designed with a rugged, 316 stainless-steel enclosure, the Ultima XIR Monitor is dependable in the harshest of environments.
The Ultima XIR Monitor utilizes dual-wavelength heated optics technology, providing definitive compensation for temperature, humidity and aging effects. The IR technology offers excellent long-term stability, eliminates the need for frequent calibrations and reduces the overall cost of ownership.

The Ultima XIR Monitor eliminates the need for gas calibrationâ€”a simple zero adjustment provides reliable accuracy. It operates over extended temperature ranges, has a rapid response time and is immune to sensor poisoning. The Ultima XIR Monitor functions in both high-gas and low-oxygen environments and contains no moving parts, jumpers, switches or pots. A remote sensor assembly allows the monitor to be located up to 100 feet from the transmitter.
The Ultima XIR Gas Monitor can operate in either pumped or diffusion mode and is suitable for indoor and outdoor applications in virtually any type of industry, including refineries, chemical and petrochemical facilities, steel mills, water and wastewater plants, mining and general industry. A sintered-disk-free design enables optimum performance in the harsh offshore environment.
