Model 488.2v4 Driver Announced by ICS Electronics

PLEASANTON, CA. Today ICS Electronics announced the release of a new GPIB Driver for controlling test instruments. Designated as 488.2V4, this new driver fully supports 32 and 64-bit Windows operating systems. The 488.2V4 Driver provides full support for 64-bit programs and includes a 64-bit DLL for executing 64-bit programs. The new 488.2V4 Driver applies to ICS's 488-USB2 USB-to-GPIB Controller, to the 488-LPCI PCI GPIB Controller and to the 488-PXI PXI GPIB Controller cards.

The 488.2V4 Driver provides a 64-bit program developer with several advantages. First its 64-bit DLL lets the user run his program completely in the 64-bit address range instead of converting to a 32-bit DLL as some competitors do. Secondly, all utilities like ICS's Explorer and GPIBkybd program are installed in both 64 and 32-bit versions.

The 488.2V4 Driver can be installed on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 operating systems. It will automatically detect the version of the operating system and install the correct lower level drivers and utilities for that operating system. Its GPIB-32.dll is compatible with other GPIB-32.dlls and supports programs written with direct dll calls as well as VISA libraries from Agilent, Kikusui and National Instruments.

The 488.2V4 Driver is now being shipped with all new GPIB Controllers and is available for downloading from ICS's website at http://www.icselect.com/.

ICS Electronics is a pioneer and leader in the design and development of IEEE 488 Bus support products and VXIbus products. The ICS has been supplying GPIB Controllers and Interfaces for over 30 years and the 488-USB2 Module and 488.2V4 Driver Library are part of a new series of GPIB Controllers being released by ICS.
