August 22, 2011 - Offering drop-in replacement for existing 17 x 22 mm GPS modules, Model GG12A features 29 sec cold start TTFF, -146 dBm cold starting, and -162 dBm tracking sensitivity. Unit has 12 tracking channels, capable of operating in GLONASS+GPS mode, GPS-only mode, and GLONASS-only mode. Combining multipath detection and mitigation signal processing, advanced track engine is capable of continuous accurate navigation in difficult urban canyons and deep foliage environments.

Affordable GG12A GLONASS/GPS Receiver


Hsinchu, Taiwan, - SkyTraq introduces a new high-performance, affordable GG12A GLONASS/GPS receiver. Its form factor and pin-out is compatible to a popular 17mm x 22mm GPS receiver model, and uses the same NMEA output format as a GPS receiver. Users can drop replace their existing 17mm x 22mm GPS module and turn their GPS product into a high performance GLONASS/GPS product instantly without any hardware or software modification efforts, only a GLONASS/GPS antenna is needed for GLONASS and GPS signal reception; much improved satellite signal availability for position fix can be seen immediately. The GG12A is offered at a price comparable to a GPS module, offering a simple very low-cost migration path for GPS system companies leaping ahead to offer high-performance GLONASS/GPS products.

The new GLONASS/GPS receiver features industry-leading 29 second cold start TTFF, -146dBm cold starting and -162dBm tracking sensitivity; offering best-in-class performance among GPS and GLONASS/GPS receivers available on the market. GG12A has 12 tracking channels, capable of operating in GLONASS+GPS mode, GPS-only mode, and GLONASS-only mode. Separate GPS and GLONASS search engines allows very fast acquisition of weak GLONASS and GPS signals concurrently. Advanced track engine enables continuous navigation under weak signal environment, combining multipath detection and mitigation signal processing it is capable of continuous accurate navigation in difficult urban canyon and deep foliage environments. The very affordable high-performance GG12A GLONASS/GPS receiver is ideal for applications migrating from GPS to GLONASS/GPS dual-satellite navigation technology.

Volume delivery to customers begins in September 2011. Engineering sample, datasheet, and evaluation kits are available now.
