Legrand/Pass & Seymour Audible Alarm GFCI Can be Seen and Heard

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Legrand/Pass & Seymour (P&S), a leading provider of electrical wiring devices and home systems, announces the availability of the first Audible Alarm GFCI Receptacle. Designed to meet the needs of expanded National Electrical Code® (NEC) requirements for GFCI protection, the Audible Alarm GFCI provides another level of security.

For example, circuits serving sump pumps and commercial kitchens are now often protected by GFCIs. These applications, in particular, would benefit from a device with an audible trip. In addition to the GFCI's standard trip indicator light, the audible alarm provides an additional signal that a sump pump, refrigerated display case, freezer or refrigerator has lost power. This can help prevent situations like flooding or food spoiling.

"We've been committed to GFCI innovation since inventing the first device in 1971, and we've achieved many breakthroughs, from the Tamper-Resistant Nightlight GFCI, to the PlugTail GFCI, and now the Audible Alarm GFCI," said Bill Timmons, marketing manager of residential products for Legrand/Pass & Seymour. "Our goal has consistently been to prove that we don't just meet these NEC requirements for GFCI protection. We incorporate new features and functions that make them even more useful."

The Audible Alarm offering includes 15A and 20A Tamper-Resistant Duplex GFCI Receptacles. Hospital Grade models are available. All devices have a high-impact-resistant, thermoplastic construction for superior strength and durability. P&S patented SafeLock(TM) Protection shuts off power to the receptacle if there's a ground fault, if there's a miswire, or if GFCI protection is compromised.
