Innovative Fiber Fusion Splicer Boasts a Reversible Monitor

Toronto, Canada - GAO Comm (www.GAOComm.com) has released its compact fiber optic fusion splicer featuring auto-check of fiber end-face, auto-calculation of the splicing loss, auto-select suitable fusion program and simultaneous X and Y views. The single fiber fusion splicer is specifically designed for dispersion-shifted fiber (DS), non-zero dispersion-shifted fiber (NZ-DS), and erbium-doped fiber (EDF); it is suitable for both single mode (SM) and multi-mode (MM) fiber optic applications.
GAO Comm' s single fiber fusion splicer, model 730, boasts 256x magnification and a reversible monitor and a control panel on each side. It automatically adjusts to environmental conditions using built-in temperature, humidity and pressure sensors which provide constant feedback signals to control the fusion arc temperature. The single fiber fusion splicer is able to store 8,000 groups of splice results. This fusion splicer offers a short splicing time of eight seconds, and an impressive tube heating time (sleeve shrinking time) of 40 seconds. Its average splice loss is 0.02dB, 0.01dB, 0.04dB and 0.04dB respectively for SM, MM, DS and NZDS fibers.
