Quadra-Scrubâ„¢ Provides High-Efficiency Acid Fume Scrubbing

October 14, 2002 Owosso, MI. Tri-Mer Corp. has introduced a 4-stage scrubber for use in the most aggressive acid fume environments, including battery forming, steel pickling and similar applications. The system was designed for "24/7" operation with zero shutdown, and consistently produces collection efficiencies in the range of 99% and higher.

Quadra-Scrub is a space-efficient, chemical-free system that relies exclusively on advanced mechanical separation technology. It has four stages, arranged as a series of cartridges. The first stage is a proprietary rigid tube packing, a media developed by Tri-Mer and well-proven throughout industry.

Mists next contact a stage containing 1-inch Tri-Packs "random-dump" packing media. This media prevents the formation of dry spots and compression interlock, two problems that are common to conventional packing media and that cause liquid and air to "channel," thereby reducing system efficiency. Tri-Packs develops a very low static pressure per foot of depth, so both the size of the scrubber and the quantity of scrubbing liquid can be minimized.

The third Quadra-Scrub stage is an interwoven polypropylene pad; stage four is a rigid chevron blade mist eliminator which removes droplets. The dual mist eliminator can be designed by Tri-Mer for a minimum performance requirement of 99% on 2-micron droplets.

Quadra-Scrub systems can operate "dry" at least 99% of the time on H2SO4 applications. Each stage has an independent magnehelic gage to indicate when cleaning is necessary. Quadra-Scrub systems are manufactured from UV-stabilized polypropylene, Applications assistance is available.
