Ampac Flexibles Launches Apex 9000(TM) VF, New Line of Food Service Film

Cincinnati, OH (March 26, 2008)-Ampac Flexibles-Performance Films, a flexible packaging division of Ampac Packaging LLC, introduces the Apex 9000 VF (Vertical Film) series, a new line suitable for hot or ambient vertical form/fill/seal (VFFS) applications.

The Apex 9000 VF series offers a broad range of coextruded films that combine heat resistance, sealability and barrier to aid in the packaging and processing of foods, liquids and powders while maintaining critical shelf life and product freshness. The properties allow Ampac's new family of films to address the growing needs of the food service industry. The VF series works well with temperature extremes ranging from frozen storage to reheating in boiling water. The new Apex 9000 VF line also includes flavor and aroma barrier, which is required to maintain the organoleptic properties of food products such as spices and flavorings. In addition, the films are rugged and can survive rough handling during distribution.

"Ampac is committed to developing innovative solutions that meet the increasingly rigorous demands of the food service industry," says Dave Bartish, Sales Director for Ampac's Performance Films.

The Apex 9000 VF line includes five standard films that are available in 3 to 6 mil gauge.

The 9522 VF is a general purpose hot fill, lap sealable film with split nylon
layers and a metallocene sealant that is designed for use with soups, sauces, and other products that are hot filled and then chilled or frozen. The 9525 VF, a nylon-nylon-metallocene, is fin sealable and provides the performance, cost and material savings to replace laminated structures; the 9570 VF is an LLDPE-nylon-metallocene general purpose film that is also suitable for hot fill-chill-freeze applications; the split nylon 9616 VF has a high heat resistant sealant and aroma barrier that is excellent for dry mixes and seasonings; and the 9644 VF has a high oxygen barrier layer between the nylon layers that can be used for tomato and fruit products. Versions of these films are also targeted at general packaging for soaps, cleaners and other refillable dispensing applications for commercial or industrial liquid products.

Ampac Packaging LLC is privately held, and is owned by senior executives together with equity backing by Prudential Capital Group and Falcon Investment Advisors. It is a diversified, international, flexible packaging company with 14 manufacturing centers in North America, Europe and Asia employing approximately 1,300 people with revenues in excess of $300 million annually.
