Lucas-Milhaupt Introduces Handy One™ Flux-Cored Brazing Wire

Handy One is a flux-cored brazing material that offers numerous advantages compared to traditional metal-joining methods.

MILWAUKEE, WI (February 3, 2003)—Lucas-Milhaupt, Inc., a Handy & Harman PMFG Member Company, has recently introduced a flux cored brazing wire that can improve joint strength and initial quality while reducing manufacturing costs. The concept of cored material involves the use of a brazing alloy in strip form that is subsequently formed into a U shaped channel. This channel is filled with an appropriate powdered flux, and then closed to seal in the flux and form a finished wire. The use of this completely encased, all-in-one product eliminates several steps traditionally associated with flux including diluting, mixing, and its application, dramatically reducing metal joining costs. This also reduces flux contamination on plant equipment, in the wastewater stream, and minimizes flux exposure to your brazing personnel.

Flux cored materials have been found to improve joint strength by reducing flux inclusions at the interface between the base metals. They also improve initial quality due to the consistent application of flux and filler metal.

Handy One Flux Cored Products are available in several filler metal & flux combinations (for joining virtually all common metals) and finished forms include wire, rod and preformed rings & shapes.
