Philips Lighting Introduces Industry's Most Sustainable Lamp for T5 High Output Applications

SOMERSET, NJ - Philips Lighting Company proudly announces the introduction of its highly sustainable new 49 Watt fluorescent lamp for T5 High Output applications. Ideal for high bay applications within retail big box and warehouse/industrial spaces, Philips Lighting's new Energy Advantage 49 Watt T5 HO lamp currently represents both the industry's lowest wattage and lowest mercury alternative to 54 Watt T5 HO technology -- all with no sacrifice to light output, lamp life, or performance.

Offering professional users an immediate savings of 5 Watts (or 9.3%) when switching from a standard T5 HO 54 Watt lamp, Philips Lighting's new Energy Advantage 49 Watt lamp can deliver over $17 in energy cost savings over the 35,000-hour rated average life of the lamp (on 12-hour starts and with a $.10 kWh cost). In addition to representing the lowest energy-consuming alternative to a T5 HO 54 Watt lamp available today, Philips' new Energy Advantage 49 Watt lamp, containing only 1.4 mg of mercury per lamp, also stands as the lowest mercury T5 lamp currently available in the industry and represents a new standard in environmentally-sustainable T5 High Output lighting. Available in 3000K, 3500K, 4100K, and 5000K color temperatures, Philips' 49 Watt lamp features high lumen maintenance of 95% and a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 82-85 and maximizes design flexibility while helping to support the achievement of energy objectives such as LEED certification.

Energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, and sustainability have long been guiding principles behind Philips Lighting's product and service innovations. As a champion and leader of the national Lighting Efficiency Coalition, Philips Lighting was instrumental in helping to finalize the lighting efficiency aspect of the federal Energy Independence & Security Act of 2007, efforts for which Philips Lighting subsequently received the Alliance to Save Energy's "Stars of Energy Efficiency Chairman's Award" in September 2008. In addition, Philips is achieving revolutionary strides in lighting design and application globally through green lighting breakthroughs being introduced in the LED arena by Philips solid state lighting divisions Philips Color Kinetics, Lumileds, and others. Philips Lighting's new Energy Advantage 49 Watt lamps represent yet another revolutionary new lighting solution that will assist the marketplace in optimizing lighting quality while helping to drive a more energy-efficient future for generations to come.

High-performing, energy-efficient, long-lasting, and now sporting both the industry's lowest levels of energy consumption and mercury content in their class, Philips Lighting's new Energy Advantage 49 Watt lamp delivers a new level of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability to the market's broad array of professional lighting applications.
