Burkert Introduces Type 8055 Full-Bore Magflowmeter (Continuous or Batch Control)

IRVINE, CALIF., May 18, 2004 - Burkert introduces the Type 8055 Full-Bore Magflowmeter, designed for filling and dosing operations, including data registration. The Type 8055 (continuous or batch control) finds use in sanitary food/beverage processes, pharmaceuticals manufacturing and water treatment applications. It is also used in CIP (clean in place) and SIP (steam in place) applications.

Combined with a valve as the actuating element, the Type 8055 accurately controls precision dosing and filling operations. The unit incorporates two transistor outputs (40VDC, 100mA), 0/4-20mA current output and RS485. The transistor outputs are each freely programmable and can be configured as pure switching outputs for a valve, alarm and rough/fine dosage. In addition, they can be configured proportionately to flow rate/volumes as pulse output (1250 Hz max.). Incorporating a large, easy-to-read graphic display, the Type 8055 is programmed locally via three key pads or by PC.

The Type 8055 is available in sanitary, low-flow and general-purpose configurations. Measuring range for the sanitary version is 8.83 cubic ft/h to 9,888 cubic ft/h; low-flow version is 66 gal/h to 3,302 gal/h; general-purpose version is 636 cubic ft/h to 9,888 cubic ft/h. Accuracy for all versions is 10.2% of reading (for liquid velocity >3.28 ft/s), while repeatability is better than 0.1%. Minimum conductivity is 5 5S/cm.

Fluid temperature range for the Type 8055's sanitary and low-flow versions is -40F to 3020F; for the general-purpose version, 320F to 1400F. Ambient temperature range for all versions is -40F to 1400F. Maximum fluid pressure permitted for all versions is 234 psi.

Type 8055 pipe diameters are 1/2-inch to 3-inches for the sanitary version; 1/2- to 3/4-inch for the low-flow version; 1- to 4-inches for the general-purpose version. Process connections for the sanitary version are Tri-Clamp. per BS4825 or ISO 2852 with others on request; low-flow version is threaded NPT or ISO 228-1 (UNI 338) with others on request; general-purpose are ASME or DIN flanged 2501 (UNI 2223) with others on request.

Both the sanitary and low-flow configurations of the Type 8055 incorporate bodies made of stainless steel 304-1.4301. The general-purpose body is made of varnished carbon steel, while the Type 8055 controller is constructed of varnished carbon steel or stainless steel 304-1.4301. The magflowmeter's wetted parts are made of stainless steel 316L-1.4404. Lining material for the unit's sanitary and low-flow versions is PTFE; for the general-purpose version, PP.

The Type 8055 is compatible with various pumps and PLCs, plus these other Burkert units:

o Type 6223 Proportional Solenoid Control Valve

o Type 2731 TOP Control System

o Type 2700 SIDE Control System

o AirLINE Type 8644 Remote Process Actuation and Control System
