Original Press Release:

General Software Announces Support for New 45nm Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T9400

SEATTLE, WA - July 15, 2008 - The Mobile Intel® GM45 Express chipset and the Intel® 5100 Memory Controller Hub (MCH) chipset are now fully supported by Embedded BIOS® with StrongFrame® Technology, General Software's 6th generation, x86 firmware. These chipsets are validated with the new Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo processor T9400 which features 45nm process technology and delivers energy-efficient performance. The Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo processor makes it possible to integrate two complete execution cores in one physical package, providing advancements in simultaneous computing for multi-threaded applications and multi-tasking environments. Intel's new hafnium based 45nm Hi-k silicon process technology enables even more processor performance by doubling transistor density and increasing cache size by up to 50 percent.

Unlike BIOS companies that focus primarily on standard desktop PC functionality used by 15-20 1st-tier mainboard ODMs, General Software offers rapid, low-risk deployment to the broadest range of the x86 industry's chipsets, CPUs, and SIO packages. General Software also offers additional cores within the same build architecture that are optimized for several markets including Mobility, Telecom/Datacom, Consumer Electronics, and Embedded/Industrial markets.

"General Software has consistently demonstrated its ability to support the latest silicon and technologies that drive industry innovation and enable OEMs to achieve faster time-to-market at lowered costs," said Craig Husa, General Software CEO. "The Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo processor T9400 combined with leading Intel chipsets continue that trend, providing more cutting edge platforms to support with our top of the line embedded solutions," continued Husa.

General Software's solutions, such as Embedded BIOS® with StrongFrame® Technology and UEFI with StrongFrame® Technology, are the fastest way to deploy BIOS on a target with ease and reduced risk.

Features provide embedded x86 developers:

Increased flexibility and configurability Shorter adaptation time Faster time to market Lower total cost of ownership

"Having a robust yet easily customizable embedded solution is critical to building high-performance, low-power devices. With General Software's solutions, a manufacturer can increase the options and innovation given to their customers," said Joe Jensen, general manager, Intel Embedded Computing Division. "By continuing to support Intel's next generation processors and chipsets including the Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo processor T9400, General Software will be an assistance to manufacturers looking to utilize the latest Intel Architecture."

General Software is a General Member of the Intel® Embedded and Communications Alliance, a community of communications and embedded developers and solution providers. Mutual customers of Intel and General Software have embedded support for the latest embedded Intel® architecture processors as they are introduced.

Prime examples of this first class support are embedded solutions for the most recently released chipsets validated with the Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo processor T9400:

Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset
The new Mobile Intel® GM45 Express chipset platform offers excellent processor and graphics performance, storage speed and reliability, and up to 8 GB 667/800 MHz DDR2 or 800/1067 MHz DDR3 SODIMM system memory. Graphics core performance up to 533 MHz can be relied upon with an integrated display port and HDMI/HDCP, providing an ideal operational environment for a broad range of embedded applications such as interactive clients, gaming platforms and industrial automation equipment.

Intel® 5100 MCH Chipset
The power-optimized Intel® 5100 Memory Controller Hub chipset with the Intel® 82801IR I/O Controller Hub 9R (ICH9R) platform provides 30 lanes of PCI Express* for I/O connectivity and supports dual-channel DDR2 registered ECC memory to help safeguard data and improve reliability. The resulting package offers a compelling performance-per-watt advantage for single processor bladed form factor applications in several target market segments including voice, security and wireless.
