December 16, 2009 - Suited for automated carbon steel, stainless steel, or duplex stainless steel pipe welding and fabricating, RoboPipe(TM) is driven by Power Wave® 455M/STT® welding machine rated to deliver 450 A, 38 V at 100% duty cycle or 570 A, 43 V at 60% duty cycle. Waveform Control Technology® and Surface Tension Transfer® are also included, along with ability to weld pipe root with STT and change on-the-fly to Pulse Spray MIG transfer mode for hot, fill, and cap passes.

Flexible robotic pipe welding and cutting solutions aimed at pipe welding and fabricating companies

Cleveland - Lincoln Electric Automation introduces the latest generation of its RoboPipe(TM) system, an integration of technology features and functions for automated carbon steel, stainless steel or duplex stainless steel pipe welding and fabricating.

RoboPipe is driven by the Power Wave® 455M/STT® welding machine rated to deliver 450 amps, 38 volts at 100% duty cycle or 570 amps, 43 volts at 60% duty cycle. The 455M/STT® model is especially suited for pipe welding applications where heat input control, minimal distortion, and reduced spatter are essential.

Equipped with several Lincoln Nextweld® technologies, the Power Wave 455M/STT features Waveform Control Technology® and Surface Tension Transfer® (STT®) for maximum control of the arc characteristics. This particular RoboPipe robotic-ready package is capable of welding a pipe root with STT and then change on the fly to Pulse Spray MIG transfer mode for the hot, fill and cap passes.

Lincoln Electric Automation engineers can customize the system to meet customer specific requirements and specifications. Whether requirements call for one-axis or two-axis, 5/8 inch to 45 inch diameter pipe or columns and lengths up to 60 feet, Lincoln Electric Automation can design a system to meet application demands. System layouts are optimized to maximize the work envelope of the robot while remaining cost-effective solutions that minimize the floor space requirements.

Lincoln Electric Automation advanced control technology is designed to expand system capabilities while simplifying operation. The system features multiple E-stop locations, customized pipe welding program logic, and the ability to save approximately 500 weld programs. Additional options such as manual or automatic seam tracking, Thru-Arc® Seam Tracking (TAST) or vision-based tracking can also be added to a system. For increased productivity, a Tandem MIG® system can also be easily integrated into the RoboPipe(TM) system, improving the speed and/or deposition rates of your robotic pipe welding operations.

Demonstrations of Lincoln Electric robotic pipe welding and cutting solutions can be scheduled at the Automation Division facility in Cleveland, Ohio.
