Menomonee Falls, WI. . . . Euro-Tech Corporation announces the introduction of Pinhead Flexible Fixturing. Designed to quickly and precisely fix parts on coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), the system eliminates expensive special constructions to fix complex workpieces. This innovation will be showcased at the Quality Show being held at Chicago's McCormick Place September 20-22, 2011 in Booth 1030.
Pinhead Flexible Fixturing is ideal for staging parts on CMM's or vision inspection systems and will lower inspection costs and reduce inspection time. It is excellent for controlling costs because purchasing can be conducted on an as-needed basis. This modular clamping system can be combined and expanded as necessary. Standard features include:
Pin Base height for mounting the workpiece is 4.75" to top of pins
70 pins ensure optimal fit
0.160" pin diameter and .800" stroke result in optimal adaptation of shape
Features and quick-clamping and maintenance-free mechanism
Alignment interface for additional modules designed to allow fast assembly
Options include a Pinhead kit that with four base units, four 1" risers, four 1.5" risers, four 2" risers and four swivel mounting arms with standard 10mm thread size. The cost for the kit is $3495. Other modular pieces can be purchased separately: risers ($64/ea) swivel mounting arms ($88/each), magnetic base ($158), spring-loaded swivel clamp ($116), and pinhead swivel clamps ($68 - $78).
FAQ's about Pinhead Flexible Fixturing:
The allowable downward force per unit is 10 kg per Pinhead element (22 lbs). 4 elements in an array will support about 40 kg.
The use of Pinhead in machining applications is NOT PERMISSABLE!. Chips, oil and contaminants will completely disrupt the clamping and extension of the pins and will in fact, void the warranty.
Risers are sized at 1", 1.5" and 2" and may be assembled in any combination.
The life of the product can only be described as "long" as all moving elements are hardened and the application for inspection (CMM tables, etc) will produce nearly no wear on the system.
