MSA FlameGardŽ Flame Detectors for Hydrocarbon-Based Fires

The FlameGard Series of Flame Detectors from MSA Instrument Division are designed to continuously monitor for hydrocarbon-based fires or flames. The systems detect the ultraviolet (UV) and/or infrared (IR) radiation that is emitted by these fires and flames. All FlameGard Detectors can operate as stand-alone units or connected to a fire or security system, and are also compatible with digital control systems (DCS).
MSA's FlameGard IR3 Flame Detector uses a patented triple-infrared design to monitor three different infrared frequencies, offering two to three times the detection distance of conventional IR or UV/IR detectors. All three signals are checked for the proper ratio and relationship to each other before an alarm is given, enhancing the system's immunity to false alarms.

The FlameGard UV Detector uses UV radiation to detect flames and fires, while the FlameGard UV/IR Flame Detector uses both UV and IR radiation. Enclosed in heavy-duty, copper-free, explosion-proof aluminum housings, both units are easily mounted with a simple bracket or the optional Swivel Mount Kit. In dusty environments the optional Air Purge Kit keeps the viewing glass clear.
