Bourns Expands Fixed Resistors Product Line with New 1 Kilowatt (KW) Stripline Termination

New Stripline 50 ohm Termination is the Industry's First to Feature 1000 Watts at Frequencies Up to 1 Gigahertz

RIVERSIDE, Calif., Oct. 20 -- Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, today announced that the company has expanded its line of fixed resistor products to include a new radio frequency (RF) Power Termination that is the industry's first Stripline 50 ohm Termination to feature 1000 Watts (W) at frequencies up to 1 gigahertz (GHz). Designated Model CHF190104KxBF500L, the new RF Power Termination is able to run at very high power due to excellent thermal impedance. In addition, at 800 megahertz (MHz), designers can expect few reflections as the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) is a maximum of 1.06. Optimized for applications where a high power termination is required to be remotely located, the new Bourns® RF Power Termination is designed for combiners and dividers in television and radio broadcast, radar and medical equipment or other applications that require very high power.

Bourns'® Model CHF190104KxBF500L can also help decrease the number of interconnections needed in a system. Due to its improved power range, engineers can achieve higher power in their combiners or reduce the existing number of terminations to achieve the same amount of power, which helps to decrease overall product footprint and costs. The new device also features a 1000 W at 100 degrees Celsius case temperature.

"The new Bourns® RF Power Termination offers a powerful combination of high power and high return loss up to 1 GHz making it one of the leading Stripline Terminations on the market today," said Cathal Sheehan, product marketing manager for the Bourns® Resistive Products Division. "Bourns' extensive experience with thickfilm technology has helped us create a device that offers low inductance, higher operating temperatures and up to 1000 W load for next-generation applications such as high power transmitting stations and digital terrestrial television (DTTV)."
