Duros Upgrades Fixed-Mount Rugged Computer with Intel Atom Processor, More RAM, Windows CE, and More

TEMPE, Ariz. and CLEVELAND - NA2010, Booth 2537 - The Duros(TM) 1214 fixed-mount rugged computer is getting a boost in power and performance from upgrades that include a 1.6 GHz Intel® Atom(TM) Processor, 2 GB RAM, a multi-use serial port and the ability to run Windows CE.

Intel's 1.6 GHz Atom Processor and the additional RAM provide increased processing power with greater efficiency for the fixed-mount computer. Designed specifically for warehouse and shipping environments, the Duros 1214 mounts directly to industrial machinery including forklifts and pallet trucks. Its solid-aluminum construction makes it one of the most rugged fixed-mount computers on the market today.

The addition of Windows CE offers users a fully integrated development environment in which to deploy custom applications. The Duros 1214 also runs Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Embedded Standard or Linux operating systems.

The new multi-use serial port supports legacy peripherals like barcode readers, RFID scanners and weight scale equipment, allowing those devices to connect with the computer to exchange data and receive power. The multi-use serial port also includes a screen-blanking option for safe vehicle operation.

Although its main source of power comes from the vehicle, the Duros 1214 also has a built-in battery backup (UPS) that provides up to 20 minutes of continuous use without power, which is helpful when changing the forklift battery or making last-minute entries after powering down the machinery for the day.

"The Duros 1214 has been a popular choice for warehouse and shipping environments because the product is designed specifically for them," said Eric Miller, general manager for Duros. "We were able to improve on an already solid performer by listening to our customers' feedback and responding with a product that meets more of their needs."

The Duros 1214 can also ship preinstalled with Wavelink Terminal Emulation (TE) and Wavelink's popular remote-management client Avalanche Mobility Center (MC).
