Sensus Launches OMNI F2 Fire Protection Meter for Water Utilities

Newest water meter optimizes utility operations

Raleigh, NC - Sensus, the leading provider of innovative technology solutions that enable the conservation of water and energy, announces the availability of its new OMNI(TM) F2 fire protection water meter, a product that addresses issues prevalent in competitive commercial meters, including headloss and maintenance.

"This technologically advanced meter has only one moving part and a single register, which makes it the ideal solution for utilities looking to reduce maintenance costs and optimize operations through improved resource management," said Mike Tracy, Vice President, North American Water at Sensus.

The meters, available in 4-inch and 6-inch models, continue to build on the company's unique Floating Ball Technology (FBT), introduced two years ago. FBT features a turbine impeller and a chamber housing design for wider flow accuracy range and extended meter life.

"The FBT allows utilities to measure at very low and extremely high flow rates, which can generate revenue previously not captured," said Tracy.

OMNI F2 meters address several customer requirements, including:
  • Superior accuracy
  • Easy to program and collect data
  • Smaller in width and height than competitive products
  • UL Listed and FM approved
  • Standard and compact lay lengths
  • Electronic register with two separate outputs

The electronic register enables customers to link the meter to an Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) or Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system as well as a SCADA system. The register contains a programmable display, a 31-day system data log, and a resettable accuracy testing feature.
