April 24, 2003 - WebSphere® Business Integration for Financial Networks for Multiplatforms consists of messaging platform with scalable, centrally managed messaging foundation through which financial institutions can access various networks. Based on middleware technology, financial messaging integration platform utilizes open architecture. Financial Networks Base for AIX® component performs security, event logging and tracking, message warehousing, and administration functions.

IBM WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks for Multiplatforms Offers a Powerful Messaging Infrastructure

Overview

To help financial institutions remain competitive in the ever-changing world of wholesale payments messaging, IBM delivers a robust, scalable, and flexible financial messaging integration platform.

WebSphere® Business Integration for Financial Networks for Multiplatforms, part of the WebSphere Business Integration set of offerings, offers this leading-edge message integration platform.

It is the messaging platform through which financial institutions can access various networks such as SWIFT Secure IP Network (SIPN). Based on IBM's industry-leading middleware technology, the open architecture meets today's network integration needs and establishes a foundation for future communications extensions.

This announcement delivers the foundation for the messaging infrastructure -the Financial Networks Base for AIX®. Added capabilities will be delivered in a phased approach consistent with the Statement of General Direction for WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks. Refer to Software Announcement 203-097, dated April 8, 2003.

WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks for Multiplatforms Base performs common messaging functions such as:

• Security

• Event logging and tracking

• Message warehousing

• Administration functions

Description

Financial institutions can employ this foundation of services to centralize common tasks such as:

• Controlling access to resources

• Recording audit data

• Logging events

• Storing messages

The advantage to sharing these services includes simplified operations, improved productivity, and consolidation/centralization of resources.

The WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Base is the central infrastructure for all messaging. It provides the common elements needed by all external network connections along with the centralized control and tracking capabilities.

Product Positioning

WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks for Multiplatforms is a financial messaging integration platform for enabling financial message consolidation. It is being delivered in phases on AIX. For financial market customers, WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Markets enables the process flows and additional external connections needed for straight-through processing requirements around virtual matching utilities like OMGEO (SM).

Tivolio Access Manager for Business Integration delivers the application-level, end-to-end message integrity and confidentiality services to protect financial transactions as they move between application servers running WebSphere MQ and WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks for Multiplatforms. These services are above and beyond the security built into WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks for Multiplatforms, which is designed to secure access to the specific networks.

Tivoli Monitoring for Business Integration comprises a complete management solution for WebSphere MQ and WebSphere MQ Integrator® Broker to allow systems administrators to configure, monitor, and manage these products across host and distributed platforms.
