Norton Abrasives Introduces Norax® Film Discs for Solid Surface Finishing

-- The New U288 Engineered Abrasive Disc Delivers up to 10 Times Longer Life than Standard Discs --

WORCESTER, Mass., November 14, 2003-NORaX engineered abrasives are fine-grit products in which abrasive and bond are formed in distinct three-dimensional structures. Multiple patterns of these structures offer a number of performance advantages, including increased life, higher cut rate, improved surface finish and improved stock removal efficiency.

Norton Abrasives has developed the new NORaX U288 discs specifically for solid surface finishing. The new U288 discs are made with aluminum oxide abrasive that is formed into a file pattern on a 3-mil polyester film backing. The discs are color coated: 45-micron-tan, 35-micron-green and 10 micron-blue.

In tests against standard discs, the new U288 NORaX discs produced a superior finish while lasting up to 10 times longer. Lowering the number of discs used and the downtime to change discs resulted in a reduction of finishing costs.

NORaX U288 film discs are available with Speed-Grip® hook & loop and PSA disc fastening systems.
