June 1, 2009 - Pelletized mineral-containing BioTuf 976 film compound is based on blend of biodegradable resins, including aliphatic/aromatic co-polyester. Designed to be extruded and converted on standard low density PE or grooved-feed HMW-HDPE processing equipment, compound produces films with physical properties similar to linear-low density polyethylene.

Heritage Plastics, Announces BioTuf 976 Film Compound for Compostable Bag Production


Picayune, MS (May 2009) - Heritage Plastics announces BioTuf 976 for compostable bag production.

BioTuf 976 is a pelletized mineral-containing compound based on a blend of biodegradable resins, including an aliphatic/aromatic co-polyester. It is specifically designed to be extruded and converted on standard low density PE or grooved-feed HMW-HDPE processing equipment. Films produced with BioTuf 976 have physical properties similar to linear-low density polyethylene.

According to Holly Hansen, Vice President Technical Services, "Films up to 3.0 mils thick will completely degrade in commercial and municipal composting environments in accordance with the requirements of ASTM specification D6400. Producers of bags and liners used for diversion of food and organic waste from landfills to commercial composting facilities will appreciate that this product is approved by Biodegradable Products Institute."
