May 13, 2004 - Suited for wedge-based anechoic and hemi-anechoic chambers, Fiberglass Wedge is die-cut to user's dimensions to absorb incoming sound waves and to act as waveguide to reflect acoustic energy into wedge. Made from fine, rotary-process glass fibers bonded with thermosetting resin, board is structurally rigid and resistant to vibration. Material does not breed or promote fungi and bacteria. Board has been tested in accordance with ASTM c 423-90a and ASTM e 795-83.

LIT Industries Introduces New Fiberglass Wedge For Sound Testing

LIT Industries, Inc., a leading supplier of insulating products for thermal and acoustical applications, introduces its new Fiberglass Wedge® for wedge-based Anechoic and Hemi-Anechoic Chambers (“dead rooms). The wedge-shape absorber is die-cut to meet users specific dimensions in order to absorb incoming sound waves and to act as a waveguide to reflect acoustic energy into the wedge.

The Fiberglass Wedge offers high acoustical performance, and exhibits superior sound absorption properties. The board is structurally rigid, and resistant to vibration. It is manufactured from fine, rotary-process glass fibers bonded with a special thermosetting resin and does not breed or promote fungi and bacteria. The fiberglass board has been tested in accordance with ASTM c 423-90a and ASTM e 795-83.

The Fiberglass Wedge works through sound waves that strike fiberglass and cause changes in the air pressure within a maze of interconnected air spaces: the small back and forth movements of contained air volume convert kinetic energy in the air mass into heat and the result is the absorption of sound power.
