Fiber to Ethernet Converters provide robust data exchange.
January 19, 2012 -
Featuring real-time compatibility, Industrial Ethernet media converters provide reliable data exchange between copper and fiber optic media. Products enable integration of glass fibers into network while remaining transparent to other network devices. Ethernet, via an RJ45 port, is converted to optical port with SC or ST glass fiber connections. Along with Link Fault Pass-Through technology, features include redundant power inputs, MTBF of over 401k hr, and -40 to +75°C operating range.

RICHMOND, VA - Weidmuller announces a new line of Media Converters for industrial applications. Featuring real-time compatibility, Weidmuller's Industrial Ethernet media converters provide the ideal solution for a highly reliable, robust data exchange between copper and fiber optic media.
Fiber-optic based systems are already established in the process industry, plant engineering, energy distribution and factory automation. Recommended for applications where high interference or long transmission distances are common, fiber-optic cables are not affected by lightning or voltage surges.
Weidmuller's Industrial Ethernet media converters provide the ability to integrate glass fibers into a network while remaining transparent to other network devices. These new devices convert the Ethernet, via an RJ45 port, to an optical port with SC or ST glass fiber connections.
Weidmuller's new media converters feature Link Fault Pass-Through (LFP) technology, which employs mechanical relay outputs to alarm on power failure and port breakages on either fiber or Ethernet ports. This LFP feature retains the collision domain between the two Ethernet participants, resulting in a status transparency between the two Ethernet interfaces.
The redundant power inputs allow for more secure connections. Media converters can be easily integrated into the Turbo Ring or Turbo Chain layouts without any extra steps. A high Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of over 401k hrs, allow for peace of mind in demanding and critical applications. Multimode glass fibers allow distances of up to 5,000 meters (16,405 feet) to be bridged without intermediate repeaters. Singlemode glass fibers can be used over distances of up to 40 kilometers (131,234 feet).
The wide temperature range of -40° C to +75° C allow Weidmuller's media converters to be used in a variety of applications worldwide. Approvals include cULus, GL for marine applications and Hazardous area approvals including ATEX and cULus Class 1 Zone 2.
