OZD Genius G12 provides fiber optic interface for ring structures up to 6.2 miles for single mode fiber, or 1.6 miles for multimode fiber. It can be integrated into existing Genius-Bus fieldbus networks or used to configure new network with line or redundant ring structure. Unit routes signals to subscribers with full protocol transparency at transmission rates up to 153.5 kBits. Up to 10 devices can be connected to its electrical port.

Hirschmann Improves Range And Capabilities Of Redundant Genius-Bus Fiber Optic Transceiver
Pine Brook, NJ, December 2001 - The updated OZD Genius G12 Fiber Optic transceiver from Hirschmann Electronics Inc., Automation and Network Solutions now offers highly available fiber optic interface for ring structures up to 6.2 miles for single mode fiber (1.6 miles for multimode fiber). The OZD can be integrated into existing Genius-Bus fieldbus networks or used to configure a complete Genius-Bus fieldbus network with a line or redundant ring structure. The OZD Genius G12 signals are routed to subscribers with full protocol transparency at transmission rates of 153.5 kBits (standard or extended), 76.8 kBits and 38.4 kBits, and the device now accommodates the connection of up to 10 devices to its electrical port.
The updated Hirschmann interface has diagnostic LEDs for quick installation and system check time. A redundantly designed 24-volt power supply input ensures high availability of the fieldbus network. A failure contact allows remote monitoring of the OZD Genius.
The OZD Genius G12 incorporates electrical isolation, protection against lightning strikes, and EMI shielding. Operating temperature range is 0 to 60 degrees centigrade. The OZD Genius G12 features an extremely compact and rugged design for rapid mounting on a standard DIN rail or a mounting plate. The OZD Genius G12 is designed to offer quick installation, and commissioning, along with reduced maintenance time.
Hirschmann also offers Fiber Optic Repeaters for Profibus, WorldFip, DH 485, RS485, RS422, RS232 as well as Video and Audio. Pricing for an OZD Genius starts at $1,200 per unit. Delivery is from stock.
