Greene, Tweed Offers a Complete Line of Fiber Optic Feedthroughs

Kulpsville, PA (March 2003) - Greene, Tweed announces a complete line of Seal-Connect® hermetically sealed fiber optic bulkhead feedthroughs. The new feedthroughs are available in ST and FC configurations in both permanent and non-permanent versions. Once installed the permanent feedthroughs are hermetically sealed with or without connections. The non-permanent models require one side to remain connected in order to maintain a hermetic seal. Connection and disconnection can be made without impairment to seal integrity.

The design of the new feedthroughs is based on the hermetic joining of an internal light conduit to zirconia ferrules, ensuring precision alignment to cable connectors. Light loss and back reflection are within UPC standards. Test results exhibit no detectable leaks at 1 x 10-9 cubic centimeters of helium per second. Parts are 100% tested using a helium mass spectrometer ensuring the feedthroughs performance. Insertion loss is typically 0.3dB and maximum light loss is 0.5dB. The new feedthrough body is made from high quality corrosion resistant 316 series stainless steel and the alignment sleeves are precision-machined zirconia. The new units are also available in titanium, hastelloy C-276 and inconel.

Bulkhead feedthroughs are available in various mounting configurations including weld mountable, O-ring and sanitary fitting. The new units offer exceptional reliability and performance in harsh environments and are available for vessel with walls from 1/16 to 1 inch thick.
