Power Loss is No Problem, Fiber Optic A/B Switch Continues to Pass Data

The QuickSwitch Model 6299 single channel all fiber optic LC Duplex A/B switch was just developed by Electro Standards Laboratories. This manually operated switch allows a device connected to the COMMON port to access devices connected to the A or B port. The Model 6299 is housed in a slim rack-mount configuration measuring 19.0" W x 1.75" H x 8.0" D (48.3 x 4.4 x 20.3 cm). The switch weighs approximately 4.5 lbs. (2.0 Kg).

The Model 6299 is controlled locally by manually operating the front-panel push-button. There is no remote control feature for this unit. This switch allows quick connection to any one of two LC fiber optic interface devices from one COMMON port. Front-panel LED's display switch position and power status. This unit supports optical data throughput scalability.

A wide range power module option is available. Catalog Number 517277 is both CE and UL listed. This table mount power module is rated for 100VAC/240VAC, 50Hz/60Hz and is ideal for international applications.

All fiber ports are LC duplex, multimode, 50/125 micron and support a wavelength of 850nm. The switch incorporates MEMS-based (Micro Electro Mechanical System) mirror/prism switch technology that supports Gigabit data rates. The Model 6299 is service protocol, bit rate and data transparent. This switch is designed with internal circuitry that insures isolation between networks/devices.

Employing the Model 6299 A/B switch will eliminate the need to plug and unplug cables. Simple push-button switching eliminates the need to plug and unplug fiber optic patch cords, thus minimizing connector wear and increasing system reliability.

The Model 6299 is ideal for fallback applications. This reliable switch will default to the A position and continue to pass data if power is lost. When power is restored, the switch will stay in the A position and continue to pass data. Electro Standards Laboratories can also supply custom length, rigorously tested and certified LC fiber optic cables for the installation of the switch.

For more information on the Model 6299 or any other fiber optic network switch manufactured by Electro Standards Laboratories, call 401-943-1164. Electro Standards' staff of knowledgeable sales engineers is available to assist with product and application questions.
