Del Mar Photonics Introduces Buccaneer Amplified Fiber Laser

San Diego, CA, August 8, 2006 - Del Mar Photonics, Inc. introduces Buccaneer Er-doped Amplified Femtosecond Fiber Laser. Buccaneer fiber laser is a mode-locked femtosecond laser which is an excellent alternative to conventional Ti:sapphire femtosecond laser systems. Buccaneer has a small footprint, affordable cost and turnkey operation.

Femtosecond pulsed lasers are needed for a growing number of applications in physics and the life sciences including material processing, multiphoton imaging, pump-probe spectroscopy and parametric generation. All solid-state fiber lasers based on Er-doped fibers are an ideal solution. Fiber lasers do not require expensive pump lasers that traditional solid-state femtosecond lasers need and Buccaneer offers robust and stable operation without the need for constant realignment.

Buccaneer fiber laser offers a pulse width of 150-300 fs at 1560 nm with average output power of >100 mW, peak output power of 1 kW, and a repetition rate of 70 mHz. A frequency doubled option offers a pulse width of 150-200 fs at 780 nm, with average output power of >10 mW, peak output power of 1 kW, and a repetition rate of 70-80 mHz. Dimensions are 180 mm x 210 mm x 70 mm for the oscillator and 290 mm x 200 mm x 100 mm for the power unit.
