Glowpoint to Launch Next Generation B2B Federation and Registry

Business to Business Federation will enhance cloud services for end-user communities with intelligent routing of telepresence and video calls

MURRAY HILL, N.J. -- Glowpoint, Inc. (OTCBB: GLOW), a leading global provider of cloud managed video services, today announced that it is enhancing its Open Video(TM) platform with federation and registry services designed to enable richer Business to Business (B2B) video collaboration.

With more than 600 businesses already able to collaborate across different carrier networks using a wide range of HD video endpoints via Glowpoint's Open Video platform, this advancement is designed to make B2B video calling even easier by providing simple federation and intelligent routing of video calls.

"Increasing adoption and expanded use of video for businesses and consumers is driving a growing global demand for cloud video services," said Glowpoint CEO Joe Laezza. "We are focused on continued development and enhancing our Open Video platform with technology that will complement our suite of cloud managed video services. Doing so will help video users break through the confines of separate clouds and video islands so that they can seamlessly participate in cross-platform and cross-network B2B video calling in a simple, secure way."

Glowpoint's Open Video platform offers network neutral and technology agnostic cloud based managed services, along with seamless B2B video collaboration. The enhanced Open Video registry engine will support both ENUM and SIP queries, enabling SIP-SIP, SIP-H.323 and interoperability to TIP to support Immersive Telepresence. With Glowpoint's Open Video connection services for Video SIP Trunking and H.323 Trunking, enterprises and service providers will have access to a comprehensive directory of video users.

The enhancement includes the implementation of a combination of registry technologies and proprietary software coding, enabling Glowpoint's core infrastructure to map video phone numbers to IP routing addresses in order to reach end-points on the far-end. Features include:

-- Policy-based, intelligent routing of video calls
-- Authorization and permission-based end-user communities
-- Access to other global registry services including GSMA PathFinder
-- Interworking hub to facilitate previously incompatible video calling

Glowpoint senior vice president of product, Anil Balani added, "Offering online video 'communities of interest', along with phone numbers and 'click-to-dial' ease of use will help drive greater adoption of video. Now that endpoints such as Smartphones and Mediaphones support video, integrating a global video directory is the next step in supporting all aspects of unified communications. Our goal is to move Glowpoint's Open Video cloud managed video services to the next level by allowing users to control who they choose to communicate with through an easy to use and secure directory."

The new registry technology is planned for global availability later this year.
