GAO Research Announces Availability of Internet Aware Fax
2008-01-31
GAO Research Inc. announces the availability of Internet Aware Fax (IAF) software based on its ITU compliant T.38 module. Under the T.38 protocol, fax signals and data from the originating fax terminal are packetized and sent over the IP network. A gateway at the remote end, unpacks the payload and directly processes the signals as an Internet Aware Fax (IAF).
There are multiple benefits of using Internet fax over traditional fax, which involves sending a scanned copy of a document (a facsimile) from one fax machine to another, over the phone network. These include: no extra telephone line requirement for the fax; paperless communication, integrated with email; sending and receiving multiple faxes simultaneously; and reduction in phone costs.
