Parvus Unveils Three Fanless 800MHz Pentium III PC/104-Plus CPU Modules Designed for -40C to +85C Extended Temperature

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH - Parvus Corporation today unveiled three ruggedized 800MHz Pentium III-based embedded processor boards - the SpacePC® 1460, 1461, and 1463. These fanless PC/104-Plus form factor CPU cards enable the Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) Intel® Tualatin Pentium® III processor to be reliably integrated into demanding mobile, high vibration, and extreme temperature computing applications.

Based on a true Intel architecture, the new SpacePC 146X family combines an 800MHz ULV Pentium III processor with an Intel 815E chipset and a powerful combination of high speed peripherals. The three models include the SpacePC CPU-1460, which includes standard embedded PC peripheral devices, the SpacePC CPU-1461, which supports up to 8 USB devices (6 of which are high speed USB 2.0 compliant), and the SpacePC CPU-1463, which features dual network controllers, including a Gigabit Ethernet interface and a 10/100 Ethernet controller.

Similar to Parvus’ 400MHz Celeron SpacePC 145X boards, these new Pentium III models incorporate a flat, aluminum heat spreader plate on top of the processor boards so that sealed embedded systems can reliability operate from -40°C to +85°C without a fan. This thermal interface plate provides a smooth surface designed for structural heatsinking - to be mounted in direct contact with a conductive gap pad and the wall of the enclosure, a traditional heatsink, or other thermal management device. Extensive thermal analysis has been performed to ensure that components are not stressed by excessive temperature load when Parvus-recommended mounting instructions are followed.

The new CPU-146X series boards integrate 256MB of RAM soldered directly onto the boards - to guarantee RAM compatibility, further enhance thermal performance, and ensure operation under shock and vibration stress when used in mobile applications (i.e. trains, buses, aircraft, tanks, vehicles, etc.). These boards serve as ideal solutions for applications requiring numerical calculation, data compression or high data throughput rates to onboard high speed peripheral interfaces.

Like Parvus’ other SpacePC processor modules, the new boards are hardware compatible with most popular real time operating systems (RTOS), including Windows CE, Windows XP Embedded, Linux, QNX Neutrino, and VxWorks.

PRICING & AVAILABILITY

The new CPU-146X models are now in stock and priced from $1,023 to $1,253/each in quantity of 100+ units. Accessories, cable sets, power supplies, enclosures and development kits are also available. Customers can contact Parvus Sales for details: sales@parvus.com or 800-483-3152.
