AAEON Launch First Intel Atom Fanless Embedded Computer for Extreme Temperature Applications

AAEON Technology Inc
5F, No. 135
Taipei, Taiwan

Press release date: January 28, 2014

The AEC-6523 combines rugged design with cutting-edge performance for advanced industrial, harsh environment and telemetric devices

Taipei, Taiwan – AAEON, a major developer of industrial computing solutions, today announces the AEC-6523 fanless embedded computer, powered by the Intel® Atom™ N2600 Dual Core 1.6GHz processor and Intel® NM10 chipset, providing the best of both performance and rich I/O interface support.

The AEC-6523 is able to operate without airflow at a wide operating temperature range of -40°C ~70°C (-40°C with W/T CFast; 70°C with W/T HDD) and is designed with superior reliability and better anti-vibration than other fanless embedded computer in the market. With static protected isolation, and one mini-card slot for expansion, it makes the AEC-6523 suitable for performance demanding applications for harsh environments such as industrial automation, steel making factories, outdoor labs, power plants, building automation and environment monitoring applications.

The AEC-6523 comes with two DDR3 800/1066 MHz SODIMM slots to support a maximum of 2GB memory. Featuring one 2.5’ SATA 2 (3.0Gb/s) HDD drive bay, together with a CFast™ slot for storage, four USB2.0, two Gigabit LAN ports, three RS-232 ports on the rear, wide DC-in of 9~30V input for power supply together with voltage protection makes the AEC-6523 suitable for operations in extreme environments with unstable power supply. As for OS support, the AEC-6523 offers solutions of Fedora Core 14, Windows® XP Pro 32-bit, Windows® 7 32-bit and Windows® Embedded Standard 32-bit.

"Today’s manufacturing facilities and production lines often face extreme weather and drastic temperature conditions. It requires outstanding fanless computing systems with the highest available processing power able to withstand extreme high and low temperatures even when passively cooled to avoid dust accumulation." stated Wayne Chen, CTO of AAEON. "The rugged design and high expansion capability definitely make the AEC-6523 the most ideal product for modern industrial automation, steel making factories, outdoor labs, power plants, building automation and environment monitoring applications."
