NMB Technologies Announces New 40mm Fan Size for Thermal Cooling Applications

Latest Fan Design Offers Increased Air Performance and Higher Back Pressure Ideal for Blade Server Market

CHATSWORTH, Calif., January 8, 2003 - NMB Technologies Corp., the world's leading supplier of axial fans and centrifugal blowers, today introduced the 1611KL fan, the company's latest 1U fan design for server, networking, storage, and rack-mounted applications. The 1611KL fan is a new model size for the thermal cooling industry, measuring 40mm x 28mm. The product design of the 1611KL fan allows design engineers to realize the benefits of increased air performance with higher back pressure in a 40mm fan size.

"The 1611 KL fan fits nicely into a 1U server rack, and it's extra width combined with it's unique air straightening design delivers more air at higher pressure than traditional designs," said Fernando Palarca, Fan Product Manager for NMB Technologies Corp. "When used in sets of up to 10 fans placed along the edge of a blade server, the 1611KL fan is a powerful solution for cooling densely packed, high powered processors and semiconductors." The 1611KL fan offers optional tach output, and locked rotor alarm signals. The 1611KL fan delivers up to 15 CFM in a free air environment. Maximum operating impedance is .47 inches2 H2O. The failure rate for NMB's family of fans is less than 60 parts per million based on actual field test data. The 1611KL fan meets all UL/CSA, VDE, and CE requirements.

Price and Availability

The 1611KL fan is currently available to OEM customers. Pricing of the 1611KL is approximately $5 and will vary based on fan functions and volume. The 1611KL fan is guaranteed to be free of defects in material and workmanship for 75,000 hours when operated under specified temperature, humidity and voltage ratings.
