New Extruder Package for Dual and Co-Extrusion

Wayne Machine & Die Company has introduced a new line of Extruders for use in Dual and Co-Extrusion of medical and industrial tubing, profiles, rods, strands, wire insulation, cable and fiber optic sheathing applications. Four modes are available for processing plastic, rubber, silicone or food. The two extruders are built in a Siamese configuration on a single satellite type adjustable height stand and are controlled by a single remote control panel. The extruders can be used as main extruders for Straight Dual Extrusion applications which use a single water trough and puller to produce separate rods, tubes, strands or profiles. For co-extrusion, they can be used as side feed extruders to supply a second and third layer as a retrofit to existing mono-layer lines.

Furthermore, the extruders can be used in succession with two separate crosshead dies for co-extrusion and coating applications where one die cannot process two materials that have radically different melting temperatures.

The single control panel offers the flexibility of independent control for dual extrusion applications or coordinated extruder control for coextrusion applications.

The extruders feature heavy duty double reduction gearboxes with helical ground gearing, one-piece bimetallic barrels with integral feed sections, and AC Flux vector drives. Screw size ranges can mix and match anywhere between 3/8 inch up to 2-1/2 inches. A wide range of custom options is available.
