New Expansion Joint Repair Kit Installs While Unit is in Operation
PAPCO Industries, Inc., has introduced a new expansion joint repair kit (patent pending) that can be installed while the unit is in operation. The repair kit includes a non-permeable bolster that covers the damaged area to minimize leakage in or out. The bolster is secured with adjustable high tension straps. Depending on the specific application, the tension straps can be secured to exposed bolt threads or to the frame itself, normally without welding or removing any hardware. The patch is designed to seal the damaged expansion joint until the belt can be replaced. The repair kit can be installed in a minimum amount of time without shutting the unit down, allowing continued productive operation until the next scheduled shutdown. Many components of the patch kit can be reused, providing a cost effective method for dealing with damaged and leaking expansion joints.
