SWI-22-10 Fully Managed Switch PCI/104-Express Card Features Advanced Layer 2 Network Management
Press release date: February 27, 2014
HELI-EXPO 2014, ANAHEIM, Calif. – Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) today announced that its Defense Solutions division has introduced the new Parvus SWI-22-10, the industry’s first 20-port Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) Switch PCI/104-Express card. With 2x the ports previously provided by earlier designs, this fully managed COTS GbE switch reduces slot-count while adding advanced Layer 2 network management features. With significantly reduced power and cost-per-port, the SWI-22-10 is ideal for use in rugged deployed manned and unmanned military and civilian sensitive mobile, tactical, airborne, and vehicle platforms for situational awareness and network-centric operations.
The SWaP-optimized card speeds and simplifies the integration of high-speed GbE Local Area Network (LAN) switching for IP-Enabled Equipment, such as onboard computers, cameras, sensors, monitoring devices, and Command-and-Control equipment. Designed to meet MIL-STD-810G environmental requirements, the SWI-22-10 delivers optimal performance in extended temperature (-40 to +85C) and high shock and vibration airborne and ground vehicle applications. The SWI-22-10 is an ideal solution for connecting a large number of IP-enabled embedded devices, including computers, cameras, sensors, and command-and-control equipment, deployed in manned and unmanned system platforms at the network edge.
“Our customers increasingly seek cost-effective, compact solutions for bringing high speed network connectivity to their fielded rugged subsystems,” said Lynn Bamford, Sr. VP/GM, Defense Solutions division. “Our new SWI-22-10, the smallest rugged Gigabit Ethernet switch card in Curtiss-Wright’s product portfolio, delivers significant SWaP-C advantages for system designers that require a module-based network building block, or a fully integrated Parvus COTS small form factor subsystem, to connect IP-enabled devices.”
Advanced Network Management Features
The SWI-22-10 is a fully managed Layer 2 switch card and supports IPv4 and IPv6 multicast traffic, Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), port control (speed / mode / statistics / flow control), Quality of Service (QoS) traffic prioritization, Link Aggregation (802.3ad), SNMPv/1/v2/v3 management, secure authentication (802.1X, ACLs, Web/CLI), redundancy (RSTP/MSTP), precision timing (IEEE-1588v2), port monitoring, IGMP Snooping, and data zeroization.
Integrated Network Switch Solutions
The SWI-22-10 is available as either a standalone card or pre-integrated into an embedded subsystem solution, such as the PC/104-based Parvus DuraCOR mission computer and DuraMAR mobile router products. Curtiss-Wright also plans to introduce a new standalone switch subsystem based on the SWI-22-10 in the near future.
