February 16, 2006 - Suited for fixed applications where high bandwidth is necessary such as video transmission from on-site surveillance cameras, FCC-approved iNET-II radio includes MDS Security Suite with AES-128 bit encryption and RADIUS authentication. Narrow radio channel and frequency hopping agility enable radio to survive in harsh environments most commercial-grade radios cannot tolerate.

MDS iNET-II Provides Long-Range, Industrial Performance at Megabit Speed

DISTRIBUTECH 2006 CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION, TAMPA (February 7, 2006) - Microwave Data Systems (MDS), a world leader in industrial, wireless, networking solutions with applications in the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), automation, telecommunications, public safety, and online transactional markets, today introduced the newest addition to its family of Ethernet radios.

The MDS iNET-II provides a transmission rate of up to one megabit and provides excellent receiver sensitivity translating into significantly longer range than traditional wireless LAN devices. The megabit speed makes the iNET-II ideal for fixed applications where higher bandwidth is necessary, such as a video transmission from on-site surveillance cameras.

This new FCC-approved radio includes the MDS Security Suite with AES-128 bit encryption and RADIUS authentication, which provide enhanced security and authentication. This is in addition to the physical layer protection provided by using the 900 MHz radio.

"The iNET-II raises the bar in industrial radios by doubling the speed of our best-selling iNET radios," said MDS Networking Product Manager Arturo Herrera. "It is not only a faster radio, but it now incorporates AES-128 bit encryption in addition to the already strong cyber security offered in other MDS networking radios, such as the iNET and the entraNET."

The iNET-II's industrial features enable it to deliver under the harshest of environments. Because of its narrow radio channel and its frequency hopping agility, it is better prepared to survive in environments most commercial-grade radios cannot tolerate.
