Expanded Line of Telemecanique Connexium Ethernet Solutions Provides Customers More Flexibility

PALATINE, Ill. - June 8, 2006 - Schneider Electric has expanded its line of open, industrially tough Telemecanique® Connexium(TM) network components, offering customers more flexibility for a variety of applications. The new offerings include the Connexium IP67 Ethernet switch for demanding environments, Connexium unmanaged Ethernet switches with expanded temperature ratings and a Connexium Ethernet gateway. The new products make network connectivity in an industrial environment easier and more reliable than ever before.

"The new Telemecanique Connexium products expand our offering of integrated Ethernet solutions and provide our customers with more flexibility to meet the specific needs of various industrial and manufacturing environments," said Richard Hutton, automation product manager, Schneider Electric North America.

Connexium IP67 Ethernet Switch
The new Telemecanique Connexium IP67 Ethernet switch from Schneider Electric offers OEM and industrial network designers flexibility for outdoor applications when designing Ethernet architecture. The industrially rugged, direct-mount, IP67-rated switches meet switching requirements for demanding applications in harsh environments and can be directly installed onto machines or within a plant floor environment. The IP67 rating provides connections that will withstand water spray and other conditions in outdoor applications, and its built-in store-and-forward technology checks messages for proper length and CRC, ensuring the correct messages are always forwarded, increasing reliability and reducing traffic.

Connexium Unmanaged Ethernet Switch with Extended Temperature Rating
Schneider Electric's Telemecanique Connexium unmanaged Ethernet switches now feature extended temperature (-40?C to +70?C) operation. OEMs and facility managers now have the flexibility to implement configurations with a mixture of managed and unmanaged switches without concern for environmental temperature.

In addition, the high temperature switches can be used in more applications, eliminating the need to search for specialty devices, thus saving time. Environmental temperature is less of a factor for any application requiring low-maintenance unmanaged switches for control or routing Ethernet messages and data. In addition, the extended temperature rated switches remain highly functional with copper/fiber options, Auto-MDI, alarm relay and redundant power source inputs.

Connexium Ethernet Gateway
The new Telemecanique Connexium TSXETG100 Ethernet gateway provides easy connectivity from any Modbus® serial line compatible device on the factory floor or remote location into an Ethernet-based communication network. The TSXETG100 provides Ethernet connectivity to any Modbus serial master or slave device, providing total flexibility in data control. Setup configuration parameters, and ability to monitor or diagnose system data through a standard Web browser, reduce the cost of specialized software, while at the same time maximizing personnel accessibility and flexibility. Ethernet gateways can be used in industrial machinery, specialty machinery, facilities and infrastructures.

The Connexium family of Ethernet industrial hubs, switches, bridges and transceivers enable a complete Ethernet solution that supports a high level of resilience. Their scalable redundant features-from single to double-ring structures-make it easy to build fault-tolerant networks that fit specific environments.
